Every Hat Has as Story

For Bollman Hat Company, it all started with The Wide Awake in the 1860s. The Wide Awake hat was inspired by the paramilitary campaign organization of the 1860s. The Wide Awakes, affiliated with the Republican Party during the 1860 election, supported Abraham Lincoln and the Union while strongly opposing slavery. The Wide Awakes were well-drilled and served as political police in escorting party speakers and in preserving order at party demonstrations and had over 400,000 estimated members. The Bollman Hat Company produced this hat and all of their hats in black when George Bollman and Isaac Sowers first opened their hat factory in Adamstown, Pennsylvania in 1868.

Since that time, Bollman Hat Company found itself a major supplier of hats, and observed the rise and fall of various styles throughout the decade. For the turn of the century, Bollman saw the stingy brim fedora become a fashionable trend, and commemorated this with the Bollman Collection 2000's Stingy Brim. The Stingy Brim is an excellent example of modernizing a classic look. The Bollman Hat Company proudly provides stars like Justin Timberlake, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt elite hats and caps.
