Our Top 5 Favorite Hats in Christmas Movies

Frosty the Snowman in the Ruby-Spears classic

1. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation: Cousin Eddie's Trapper Hat

One of the most memorable characters from the National Lampoon's Vacation series is crazy Cousin Eddie, played by Randy Quaid. He doesnt disappoint in "Christmas Vacation". The sewage-pumping, eggnog slugging, trapper-wearing Cousin Eddie will forever be remembered for creating some of the funniest scenes in the movie. Unfortunately, it seems Randy Quaid is beginning to turn into his character in real life.

2. Elf: Buddy's Elf Hat

Buddys hat in Elf is modeled after the elves hats in the old school childrens classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, but Will Ferrell added a whole new life to the elf outfit. Elf became an instant classic when it was released, mostly based on the talents of Ferrell experiencing New York City as an innocent and oversized elf.

3. A Christmas Story: Schwartz's Stocking Cap

Schwartz is probably best remembered as the friend in "A Christmas Story" who goaded Flick into sticking his tongue on the school flagpole in freezing temperatures. His awesome extra-long pull on is striped with great color and reaches the whole way down to his behind, and is finished with an enormous pom pom. Have you ever wondered if your tongue would really stick to a pole? Check out the answer here. Also, check out this really neat site about the movie.

5. Miracle on 34th Street: Kris Kringle's Traditional Santa Clause Hat

We just couldnt leave out the traditional Santa hat. Obviously, there are countless movies where you can see the classic red and white fur hat, so we had to choose the movie that best represents the spirit of Ol Saint Nick. "Miracle on 34th Street" is the clear choice for that purpose. In the original film, Edmund Gwenn plays Kris Kringle, a sweet old man who goes on trial to determine if he is the real Santa Claus.
